EXPERIMENTAL BATIK ON PAPER

This course will include :

• Experimenting with dye and bleach to create unforseen and spontaneous images.
• Collage for a multicoloured and three-dimensional design.
• Wax printing on paper using a hot iron over waxed fabric e.g. lace or jute.
• Etching in the wax.

This introductory course is designed to combine basic skills with free creativity.

Batik on paper is very versatile and encourages experimentation.

We use the most common household papers e.g. : tissue paper; kitchen towel; printed wrapping paper;

and plain or printed newspaper, for a variety of purposes. Nothing is wasted.

Working with hot wax, dye and bleach, creating spontaneous images.

Free, fast, playfull and enjoyable for people who want to be adventurous.

Students can work at their own pace and ability.
